Something is not set up correct on the server (new install).
We are using SBS 2003 Server which came with SQL 2000

If I leave the DNS servers on the Client running XP Pro blank I can get into the SQL tables using ODBC just fine.
But then I cannot get on the internet.
If I put the SBS servers IP in or the DNS for the T1 line in the network settings TCP/IP tab on the client then I can get on the internet but SQL tables give this error.

Connection failed:
SQLState: 'S1000'
SQL Server Error: 0
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Cannot generate SSPI context

Then I click the OK button on that screen and a login screen comes up to login into SQL server.
But it will not accept any login.
And gives another error.

Connection failed:
SQLState: '28000'
SQL Server Error: 18452
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'sa'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL server connection.

If you leave the dns server blank, what is the output of ipconfig?

The second error is probably because SQL Server has been installed only to allow Windows authentication, & because of the DNS setup you are being routed in such a way so as to lose the trusted connection. (Perhaps through the T1 connection?)

I am getting this same error on a SQL server that resides in a different child domain than the one I am using the client tools in. I ud=sed the KB article 811889 to the Nth degree and I still have the same problem..there is another SQL server in the same child domain that I can sucessfully connect to. I tried re-registering the SPN's for the SQL server with no luck...I even added the SQL server to AD..What other tools are available that can help me troubleshoot this problem...I can connect using SQL authentication.....Thanks....
