I currently have a SQL Server 2000 db setup with log shipping to keep a warm backup. I do the log shipping every 15 minutes, (copy and load every hour). I only run the full backup once a week and there are probably 300-400 transactions per day. I was thinking of changing it to do differentials every night I am not doing a complete backup. That along with the log shipping, if an hour of lost data is acceptable, is that enough, or should I go to daily full backups and then differential backups every 4 to 6 hours? If I do differentials, do I need to copy them elsewhere after each differential if I run them 'with init'?
