Sql 2000 Backup now very slow

Our DB server's mirrored c drive crashed and we are limping on 1 drive right now. It was not a clean switch and we had some msdb repairing to do. But the problem now is the DB backup which used to take 12 minutes is now taking several hours. Any ideas?

Have you tried running a defrag on the disk?

Apparently there was a hardware problem envolving the raid controller. Since replacing that and re-installing windows and SQL we are fast again.
