Can I have SQL 2000 and MSDE both installed on the same PC? I want to develop against MSDE on the same PC I have SQL 2K already installed.

I have an application with Access 97 connecting to SQL 2K via ODBC over a company Intranet. I need to create a standalone version of this application so my customer can run the app from a standalone PC running Access 97 and MSDE.

Yes, you can have SQL 2000 and MSDE both installed on the same machine. One of the two (doesn't matter which one) will be installed as what is called the default instance. The other one will be installed as a named instance. You will reach that one by connection to MACHINENAME\INSTANCENAME assuming that MACHINENAME is the name of your computer, and INSTANCENAME is the name of the named instance. You can also install both of them as a named instance.

If both are installed, how do I use Enterprise Manager to view both and set them up, or can Access 2002 manager both?

Access can't really manage SQL 2000, unless the newer versions of Access have something really cool in them.

When you first open enterprise manager it will have a default connection to the SQL Instance you installed. Simply right click on the "SQL Server Group" and click Register New Server, then type in the name of your machine and the name of the instance like "machine_name\instance_name" and click ok. This will connect you to the MSDE instance as well as the SQL instance.

You can then manage both of them this way.
