We have a sql 2000 ,win 2000 and a valid mail profile setup on the same m/c. Running a developed VB app manually sends mail to the profile setup.but when the same application is fired from a job set up through a trigger (triggered when a table is updated) it causes MAPI_E_LOGON_FAILED error.how can this be resolved ???

Hi There

MAPI profiles reside in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER hive of the registry. This causes problems when running from a service. It works when the appropriate user is logged on, but if not, it can't get to the profile,
because the registry hive that holds the profile isn't loaded!

You need to do some impersonation in your service to load the user's registry hive. You can impersonate the user by using the T-SQL command SETUSER

Hope This Helps.
