The web host for one of my clients recently upgraded to SQL 2005. My development machine has SQL 2000 installed because that is what all my other clients are using. The web host directed me to download and install Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express(SSMSE) so that I could manage the SQL 2005 database remotely. Will this create any issues?

Also, can SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 be installed on the same machine? And if so, are there any issues? I have SQL 2005, but have delayed installing it because I wasn't sure what issues I would run into.

I tried to find some documentation about this on Microsoft's site but could not. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have both installed on my computer without any problems. I know many others that also have both versions installed. There are no issues (with one possible exception) that I am aware of.

For some, syntax highlighting stops working. There's any easy fix for it here: thread183-1196710
