Hi,
I noticed that our SQL 2000 agent had failed and when I try to start it, it failed with the following error:

SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: SQLServerAgent must be able to connect to SQLServer as SysAdmin, but '(Unknown)' is not a member of the SysAdmin role).

We are running Windows 2000 SP2 and SQL 2000 golden.

I am going to try and add a couple of service packs, but in the mean time, is there a known issue with this? I have found issues with disabled XPs in 2005, but this is 2000.

Thanks in advance

Sussed it - simple really:

Somehow, the "NT Authority\System" windows account had been removed from the logins. I added it back and put it in the sysadmins group, and away we go :)
