Hello,
We were running SPS2003 Beta 2 TR and last week upgraded to SPS2003 RTM. Since then we've run into multiple issues. Without getting into the issues (if interested, I posted the issues on another thread in this newsgroup dated 10/7/03 but unfortunately, I've received no response) I was wondering if it is possible to simply rebuild this server and reinstall SPS2003 RTM while keeping all the sites & document libraries? We're storing the data in SQL2000 on a seperate server. The main issue I seem to be having is with the configuration database. Whenever I launch the SPS Central Administration page, it defaults to
and keeps asking to specify the Configuration Database but when I type in the server and database name (kept the default), it says "Connecting to a configuration database that Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 did not create is not supported. Connect to a valid SharePoint Portal Server configuration database, or create a new configuration database"
I checked with the SQL DBA and he says everything looks fine. He ran a trace on the DB and showed no errors. He then bounced the DB for me, and still nothing. There is an option to "create a configuration database". Can I create a new one and have the DBA restore the original to that? Or, would it be better to simply reinstall SPS2003. I have about 3 WSS sites that are heavily populated with documents.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
