Hi groupmate,

I am a beginner of SPS. I found that SPS 2003 is more
powerful but more complicated than those in previous
version.

When I try to insert a webpart which was downloaded from
Microsoft Gallery, the fullname of the Webpart could be
shown as "Untitled" and when I pulled it to a part of my
webpage, it prompted out "Cannot import a Digital
Dashboard Resource Kit (DDRK) version 3.0 Web Part. For
more information, see the Windows SharePoint Services SDK
or the SharePoint Products and Technologies SDK."

What's wrong? How can I fix it? Please help.

Thats happening because you trying to import a webpart from a different version of sharepoint. Most SPS2001 web parts dont work with SPS2003. :(

TechMC hit's the jackpot, have the webpart recoded (redeveloped) or search for a compatible one.

The webpart I downloaded came from MS Official Gallery. Someone told me that uploading DWP file is not enough. We need to upload all other files to the SPS server explicitly (e.g. FTP) and register in Web.Config.

Is there any way easier or I did it wrongly?

When u register the web part in the web.config, thats a diff issue. Usually u are prompted with a "Web Part or Web Form Control on this Web Part Page cannot be displayed or imported because it is not registered on this site as safe" error. and thats when u have to register the site as safe I believe. Just make sure that webpart was made for SPS2003.

What is the meaning of safe in Webpart?
How can I make a webpart SAFE?
