I am using 3 pantone colors in a buisnesscard and need to send the file to the printer in pdf. Are the spot colors automatically embedded? Do I need to turn off the 'preserve ICC profiles option'? Whats the best workflow, and how can I double check that the colors really are embedded?

Thanks
SEB

As long as your Pantone colors are actually spot colors, the pdf should maintain the spot information. Also make sure that you don't have any CMYK colors by accident... you don't want any extra plates if you're running a spot color job. (Unless your printer is actually going to print it 4-color process.) If you have Acrobat 6 you can look at Separation Preview to check how many plates you have.
