One of the printers on our network is causing the SPOOLSS.EXE process on NT Workstations to grow until it is using all free memory and freezes the machine. The printer is--- HP Color Laserjet 4500N. I constantly have to stop & start the Spooler service on the Workstations to kill that process. I replaced the driver on the server where the printer is shared out from, but it hasn't helped. For some reason, when the printer is mapped to the Workstation (through login script), it installs with the OLD driver. I can't even bring up Properties for the printer from the Workstations. (get a RPC server failed) ... I am going to try stopping and starting the Spooler service on the server, perhaps that will clear up the driver problem. I have to wait though, because I am running NT Cluster Server, and all the resources are in one group, so to stop the Spooler service will probably cause the Cluster to fail over. Any feedback anyone? Thanks.
