We are having a problem with our new HP 4200 laserjet printers. [mad]

When someone sends a print job to the printer, it goes through a print server appliance and out to the printer.

In the printer que on the persons computer the job shows as spooling. It never does print.

The print job does not show in the print server appliance que, so it doesn't appear to get to the print server.

We are printing jobs from excel, access, crystal reports and MS SQL 7.0.

I have tried using 9x , NT, 2000 and XP printer drivers. All have the same problem. [Ponder]

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen this happen many times.

Re-seat the network card in the printer.

Reseayed the network card. Still having problems.

Now this is appearing all over the company. Some people have the problem, others don't.

What the heck is happening? >:-<

Sounds like you have some network traffic problems.... it could be caused from a computer infected with malware, or a bad ARP table....

You might want to look at your switches, and see if any of the ports are going bananas..... if it is, try disconnecting that device and see if your problem goes away.

can you ping the printers?

Never give up never give in.

There are no short cuts to anything worth doing :)

What networkcard are you using ? A HP internal EIO or an external one ? If using a HP JetDirect card, make sure the firmware on the card and printer is up to date.

I am having the same issue with an HP 3800. It is connected via USB to the pc and is totally local, so the network-card soluntion is not an option. This non-print only happens with Excel, though. What up? Did you figure it out?

Is it excel 2003. Also I assume it XP is it service pack 2

Yes, my problem appears to be on Excel print jobs and yes all the computers have XP SP2 installed.

I went searching and I found a discussion that stated this could be caused by the firewall is stopping.

I am going to try turning off the firewall on one of the computers that is having this problem.

I will let everyone know if this solves the problem.
