Hi has anyone come across a problem (and fixed) where an object such as a prompt is shown as a dependant of a report, however when editing the report the prompt is not there. It's likley that the prompt was once on the report but has since been taken off and replaced with an alternative one. We've run ScanMD, but that has made no difference.

Sorry forgot to say that I'm using V7.2.2

open up the Prompt Order window, reorder the prompts in what ever order you like, save, reopen the Prompt Order window and put the prompts back in the correct order. Save the report.

That should fix the problem (check it by rerunning the dependents search on the prompt)

Thanks jonhoward, I knew I could rebuid the report to fix the problem, but your solution seems easier, however the problem is widespread so if anyone has an alternative which doesn't involve amending the report it would cool to hear from you.

never seen this problem before.

One thing to note is that prompts can be in the report in unexpected places. for eg, prompts can live in the template, compound metrics, simple metrics, and custom groups. Since prompts can be used in filters, thus prompts can also be in embedded filters, filtered metrics etc. Since reports can be used as filters, thus the prompt could be on another report that is a filter for your current report...and so forth. The recursive nature of the objects is flexible, but my gosh so hard to keep track of.

Thanks nlim, I've gone down each and every alleyway and the offending prompt does not exist. The routine that jonhoward describes works, but I was kinda hoping for a magic bullet to avoid a load of re-work
