Does anyone have any experience concerning the sponsorship of websites. A company approached me to sponsor my website and I wanted to know the positives and negatives of getting sponsored.

Explain sponsership

EG: Paying top to become the Authorized Dealer of you products

EG: Paying you to put up banners on your site ... ... [sig][/sig]

Paying me to put banners on my site. The person wants to sponsor half my site whatever that means. Like I said before I wasn't really expecting someone wanting to sponsor my site so I never looked into the issue. Is sponsoring the same as buying advertising space. My main issue is the control factor.

It sounds like they are looking into putting uup advertisements on your site, if so just charge them what yout think is a nice price and charge them monthly. Tell them that all you are going to do is put up banners on the site, that way they have no control over your site at all just a paid advertisement.
