Hi everyone,

We recently moved from one location to another location, and some company setup our system with a software on their laptop. I think it's spm.
My question is where can I get this software ? and wich version should I get ?

I am new with the all system ,I know it's a legend system.

Thanks for your help.

WINSPM is the windows version of the DOS SPM software.

For WINSPM support, check out thread689-607144 and read persistently to the end of the thread. It's a lot of downloading but it does work.

Which version of the software you need depends on which Legend or Magix release you're attempting to program. Newer versions of winspm support older systems, but newer systems can't use older software.

Thanks CinemaPhones,

I did download everything and seems to work fine.
now I am trying to get into the system, I tried to dial in but no one in my company knows the password.
I am trying to connect from the serial port , but it doesn't work. I am trying to figure out a way to retrieve the password .Do you know if I can retrieve it from the console?

Do you have a MLX-20L / 4424LD+ connected to the system? We'll go fromo there.

Yes ,
I have an MLX-20L,it's the main console at the receptionist desk.

Sorry had a brain-fart... was thinking you could reset the admin password from the console, but the password options only come up from the SPM software.

2 Choices:

1. Connect direct to the admin port. This method doesn't require a log-in password. Check thread689-427986 . There is plenty of good information in there on making an RS232 adapter that will work, etc. The DB25 or DB9 to RJ45 (8pin) connector they specify at Graybar is also available in the part drawers at most Radio Shack stores. The wire colors should also be the same.

2. Continue to admin by modem, but first heavily researching the forums for posts related to what a default password may be. You may be studying for a while, but knowledge truly is power.

Either way, once in and connected, the password option comes up on the main config screen. Merlin R4 and greater, the new password must be 7 characters (no enter key) older systems used 5 characters.

The default password is Craftr4. If you can get in through admin port using SPM, do a print of the system. That will show what the password is....

Thank you guys for your help.

Sorry he took so long to respond , but yesterday I was trying to mess around with my computer and its port to try to connect it to the legend and I burnt my serial card .
So know I am gonna be more carrefull.
I am gonna go over the thread that CinemaPhones posted.

I will keep you update!

Actually I have another question.
it is not really clear yet to me , we have a PRI and I am confuse between the trunk lines and the pool , what is the main difference?

Thanks again!
David

Additionally, If you connect to the admin port of the Legend via Standard SPM you can print the configuration of the system and retrieve the existing password from there.

Hi Everyone,

I finally pluged and retieved the password thru the admin port , I had to order the correct adaptator.

Anyway , I have another question.
I have a bunch of headsets that I would like to use , but how do you configure them.
right now , i pluged one into my phone , but I have to lift the handset in order to hear in my headset.
Any Ideas?

Unfortunately, if you have the MLX phones, you have poor choices. Check your Legend administration manual under Headset, and you'll see you need to program some special Headset buttons, which will let you enable a headset plugged into the handset jack. Your headset amp/control unit then can switch you between headset and handset, and the Headset buttons on the phone do the equivalent of lifting the handset.

On older (ATL) phones, you can have a one-touch headset adjunct device plugged into the AUX ports of phones; that lets headset and handset work independently.

The Magix sets also support better headset integration by having a separate jack for headset and handset.

The MLX headset support isn't really that bad! You use a standard headset "base" that connects to the handset connector on the phone, and has a jack to plug the handset back into. It will have a "headset/handset" button to toggle between the two devices.

Then, add a "headset status" button and a "headset hang-up" button to the set.

When you press the status buton, it lights up, and the normal red light button next to your idle SA button goes off. Leave the headset base to "headset", and just press any SA button to go off hook and talk. Press the hang-up button to disconnect.

When you leave you desk, or want to use the handset again, just press the status button on the phone (so the status light goes off and the red light next to the SA button comes back on), and set the handset base back to handset.

Thanks TouchToneTommy ,
I tried it and finally it works.I was trying to pick-up the call with the speaker button.

Ok, now I have another question:
the operator that has a MLX-20L supposed to get all the incoming call; unfortunalty, when 2 incoming call is reach on her phone then no other call can get thru unless that they go thru the extension number.
we used to have each line ringing on different button before ,but now we just got a T1(pri) and the tech, who installed it for us, told us we could not assign each line to an appropriate button. I understand we have 80 lines ,and that we only have 20 button (I think), but if we could assign at least the first 10 lines to 10 buttons it would be great , the chance to get more than 5 lines ringing at the same time is very small.

Any idea on how I could fix that?
Thanks in advance.

You can assign more System Access buttons to this phone.

Usually 10 is enough, but you will just have to watch it's traffic. (I usually start with 5)

Since you no longer have the lines, you probably have several of the buttons which were used for lines availble now for this function.

HI merlinman , I am not sure if I understand.
when you say you have to watch the traffic, you meant to make sure that the operator will be able to pick up all of them , if they ring?
Well I have to say that I am not sure what is system access , I think that there is quite a few ones (sysAcc ring, voice, 00..) and I am not sure which one to use.

System Access or Intercom are the first 2 or three buttons (usually) on any MLX phone, located just above and to the right of the Volume Bar.

Some folks call them System Access, others refer to them as SA and in the "KEY" mode they are called INTERCOM buttons.

Any more, when I program and train on these systems, I label them, and refer to them as INTERCOM.

So, back to my original suggestion.

Use the 1st 10 button positions on the Attendant Console as "SA" (or INTERCOM) buttons.

In central programming you can make them SA RING ORIGINATE by Pressing the Button and dialing *16. To make them VOICE ORIGINATE press the button again and dial *19.

I hope this helps....

Just don't make them SA Originate Only, or you will never receive incoming calls on them. Hoiwver, you should have at least ONE SA-Originate Only button as the last one the system selects, so you always have a path into the system for transfers.

Thank you for your help,

I am still confused and think I should read more about the system. But , to tell you the true those books are not really user friendly.
thanks again for your help.

Hi Guys ,
It's me again. I am trying to program a button for paging .
I have tried everything , but I cannot figure it out .
Does anyone has any idea .
I am sure , it's simple, but I don't get it.

I will appreciate any help.
Thanks

Ok ,
I just figured it out .
What I did is a general pickup on a line , and it works.
I know it's the wrong way , but it works.

Now I have to figure out on how to delete a button on a phone that had an incoming line associate to a phone. I don't see the feature delete when I try to reprogram it.
