Hi,
I know there have been some topics on how to spit a database, but I can't seem to find the threads.

I would greatly appreciate it if someone can help me
understand how to split my database using my local drive and using a shared network drive.

My database is currently on a shared network drive. I'm
not certain where is the best location for the forms and
tables to reside.

I'm sure I have done a poor job in my explanation. Please
excuse my lack of Access knowledge.

Front End and Back End. Back End is your tables. Front End is everything else, with links to the tables in the BE. Make a backup. Then make another copy to be your BE. Delete all but the tables from that one, and just the tables from the other one. Put your BE on the server, and rename it. Put your FE on your PC and link to the tables in the BE.

As soon as other people need to use the database, put the FE on the server and create a batch file that copies the FE to the user's PC and starts it up. Put the batch file on the server and just give the user a shortcut to the batch file.

Check out the article on Database Deployment on my website for an example of a batch file that does this.
