Splitting Auto Attendant of Voice Mail system over two call groups 1

I take care of a Partner R4.0 system for a health clinic. They have two call groups.

One call group is for the incoming clients of the clinic. It is set up that the call takers answer calls during the day with the help of ASA and at night callers are instructed to leave a message at Extension 10.

The second call group is used for incoming callers to the clinic for those that all ready know what extension they want. A message from the Voice Mail system instructs callers to the doctors and administration people "to dial the extension of the party at any time if they know their extension".

My question is can the Auto Attendant of the Voice Mail system R4.0 be split over these two call groups?

Depends on which voice mail you are using with that Partner 4.0. If it has multiple auto attendants, yes.

Partner Mail VS R4 has only ONE auto attendant, so multiple auto attendants are not an option.

Now, you are using ASA (Automatic System Answer) during the Day - are you using the Automated Attendant at Night? Or DXD perhaps?

So, you could simply make Ext. 10 the Owner of the Client Lines, and its mailbox would answer after a certain number of rings, and take messages like an answering machine. Then you could dedicate the Auto Attendant to the "backdoor" lines, so the callers could dial extension numbers to transfer the calls themselves.

Or, you could use the Auto Attendant on the Client Lines, and DXD (you already have ASA, so you must be using a Partner II?) for the backdoor lines.

Or even have a guest mailbox answer the backdoor lines, but the callers would have to dial *8 and then the extension number, which is a little more cumbersome.

I am using the Automated Attendant for the backdoor calling group. The ASA is for the customer daytime call in. The DXD is for the customer nightime call in, giving the nightime customer the ability to leave a message in either English at Ex 10 or Spanish at Ex 22.

The problem with using DXD at on the backdoor lines is a twenty second message is not long enough to list the doctors and admin people. The Auto Attendent is long enough.

How would I create a guest mailbox to answer the backdoor lines? If I used a guest extension I would have a longer time to give out more info then the twenty second DXD.
