Hi people,

I like to know if is possible to connect 3 machines with only one cable.

I, have a server with problems and like to sniffer then, but my switches don´t have tools for this, and I think this could be possible doing a cable with 3 points of connection.

Thanks for the attention,

Douglas

You might want to consider a cheap hub, since the hub has no switching or segmenting ability, you can sniff whatever is on the entire segment.

If you had a 4 port hub, you could plug in the server, the rest of the network, and your sniffer. That way all you look at is all the network traffic in and out of the server.

I don't know of any way to do that by cheating the cabling, I've not tried hooking three ethernet devices like that, but I'm pretty sure it won't fly.

Good Luck!

It is only my opinion, based on my experience and education...I am always willing to learn, educate me!

People,

Thanks for your attention, I realy have think about a hub, but my boss tell me to put this requirement on the budget for the next year! YES! Its is realy stupid Mongo5150. But I want to troubleshooting this! And I think about on samething capable to be assembled by my self.

Thanks again by your attention, but if you know about this, please tell me.

Thanks,

Douglas

A small hub should not need to wait for next budget.
The price should be low enough to get it now if you need it.
I'm not sure where you are, but a basic 4 port hub in the US would be less than $50.
