How do I "split" the database (mdb file) from the front end things?
What I'm trying to do is have multiple users access the MS-Access database on a server using a java front-end in an html page, ie I want multiple users to access the database over the internet. However I am not able to define the path to my database.
Also, what does database backup mean? it still backsup my entire application (database and forms) in a much smaller file than when I cut and paste the entire mdb file.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a KB article on splitting a database.

"BackUp" can mean almost anything from making a copy of the mdb elsewhere on your drive to writing it to some external media such as a CD or DVD periodically. Doing backups is usually a network administration task when you are using a network.

Forgot to mention.

Look at Tools / Utilities / Database splitter.

That does the work for you.

You may find it more useful to convert the split table to a SQL server based backend and link both frontend and Webpage to the SQL database tables. More stable. More users. Quicker data access.
