I'm using Project to manage the time taken by a team of design engineers and have hit an issue that I need resolving.
The engineers need to have their time split between routine design work for customers, new project work and training on an on-going basis.
You could say that their day is split 33% to each type of task.
If I want to split their working day I have two options:
1. I create three resource pools and set the working day of each pool to a third of the working day then use different pools to link to different types of projects.
2. I somehow manage to set the maximum amount of a working day that can be allocated to any one project.
Which sounds the easiest to manage.
Bearing in mind that if there are no customer design files then the time available for training and/or project work would be increased.
I'm using Project 2000 until the powers that be agree to an upgrade...
