Well, in general, yes. But we need lot more info than that to begin to provide suggestions. I am guessing this is something to do with the giant JSON file you chose to download, but you need to confirm/clarify

OK, and before proceeding down this path, WHY do you want to break it up into a bunch of separate text files?

That JSON file was likely generated from a database. You may want to transform that back into an indexed database for optimal performance in your VB app.
