Split Attachments from emails

Hi All,

This may sound like an odd question but is it possible to effectively 'split' the email body and attachment out using postfix?

The reason I ask is I want to be able to receive an email and pass the attachment to another element of software on the server for further scanning and then leave the file as an attachment in a set folder for collection as it were... Have I no hope doing it natively or would I have to write something to do I want?
