Hi,

Wonder if anyone can give me a few pointers:

I have a database that is accessible to all staff via an asp page over our intranet. It is read only access for all staff except one member who has access to update adn edit records, however, when that member of staff is in the database, no-one can view the records on the asp page.

Is there a way around this? I have looked at various threads regarding splitting a database, but i'm not sure if this is the best solution of if there's another way?

Thanks in advance

Nicola :)

have you tried chaning the options to lock only one record rather than the whole database. another method - which we use in university and which I may say isn't the best method, is to copy the MBE tables periodically presuming you have split the database.

Hi Slippenos, ProgramError,

I'm not sure about the data access page - the database has to fit in with the reast of our intranet which has style sheets etc, also the asp page has been used for so long before I got the database...

How would the lockone record option work - is this an option in the tools menu?

Thanks
