Customer has a PRI with all channels as voice, they are interested in knowing if they can split the channels so particular DIDs would only utilize channels 13-23 for inbound and outbound calling, and other DIDs would only utilize channels 1-12 for inbound and outbound calling.

Thanks, Jim

You can ask the provider to limit the number of simultaneous inbound calls to whatever you want and you can program the BCM to do the same thing outbound. You just make sure your sequencing is opposite your carrier. I.E, if they are Descending, then you set the BCM to Ascending but as someone above asked, why bother?

The only thing I suggest to customers is to set the telco limit to a maximum of 22 simultaneous calls so there is always one channel available for outbound.

DIDs are inbound anyway.

Depending why the question may depend on a work around.

Customer(s) on the BCM are in our local justice center. They currently have analog trunking but want to go PRI. Sheriff Dept record calls on their analog trunks and the recording company can record the PRI channels on a per channel basis, but they can't legally record calls for the Judges and the Court Clerks offices that are also on the BCM and would be on the same PRI, thus the desire for the channel split so they can set the recorder to record channels 1-12 for example.

This scenario would also require two separate PRI line pools for outbound calling to isolate recording for the allowed channels.

So they would need to fully separate two ascending/descending groups within the same PRI.
