Hello clever collective,

I have a customer with a Splicecom S8000 (soft PBX running on Splicecom map server) with gamma SIP trunks with a Cisco 877 router. Normal calls are fine however when you set either a trunk to trunk or forward from a user to an external number there is no media on the call. Splicecom state that on forwarded calls the Splicecom has not interaction with the media on forwarded calls and media is routed in/out internally on the Cisco router. I am inclined to believe this as we had this issue before and over came it by swapping the Cisco with a Draytek however Gamma are disputing this.

Has anyone had any experience of this with regards to Cisco 800 series routers and is their a setting to implement on the Cisco to over come this?

What they are talking about is direct media, where RTP traffic is sent direct from one endpoint to the other.

It sounds to me like you have a Gamma Assured circuit. Gamma don't do direct media, so I would believe them. Unless the splicecom is sending something funky that is forcing it to happen.

We get this on Avaya and need to set keep alives to make it work properly, but it's not a Gamma issues.

A wireshark of the SIP traffic would prove everything.
