splash screen during booting?

Greetings!

After i ve made my selection in the boot
menu, id like to have a nice image (eg. a
beatiful maiden:) ) instead of all the
verbose booting messages.
How can i accomplish that? If its to be
done within the bootloader, i work with
lilo on a redhat-like system.

Hmm, that is a combination of kernel messages and startup scripts. You will have to mess with the framebuffer to display the image and hack that into the kernel. Take a look at this site as well:

yep u can very well have a beautiful maiden on the screen , not only that u can have animation as well. but this is only till u select the OS u want to boot and after that u can supress all the boot messages.
