I just purchased a new 1g Compaq machine with 128 meg of ram and more disk space than I will ever use. It has a Voodoo 5500 and Soundblaster live. Spider is running very slow. If I open many IE windows iot seems to speed up. I ran this very same game from diskette on an old 166 M machine and it out performed the new machine by 300%.

At first I thought I may have a video problem with the Voodoo card. I tried this same test on two other Windows ME machine and got the same result.

Should I go back to Windows 98?

is it a 16 bit app because me is really bad with i6 bit apps So long and thanks for all the fish.

gunthnp, Spider is a solitaire game that comes with Windows ME.

I've seen this too - on an old IBM 166Mhz machine, the game is fine, but on a PIII 450Mhz, it is really quite nasty - and has all kinds of graphics issues. I tried this with a Matrox Productiva (8Mb AGP), 3Dfx VooDoo 3000 (16Mb AGM), ATI RAGE PRO (32Mb AGP) and Matrox Mystique (4Mb PCI), with no noticeable difference. I've also tried it on a PII 266 with similar results.

The P166 has 148Mb RAM, the PIII has 256Mb RAM and the PII has 192Mb RAM, so memory is not the answer.

I wonder if anyone else has seen this and knows what is happening!

oh ok, i have it on me machine just didn't play it till i saw your thread it run slow on my computer as well and i have tnt2 16mb PIII 800 So long and thanks for all the fish.
