Hey Nat
Rather than trying to explain the whole thing I am goin to point you to this
ms-help://MS.VSCC/MS.MSDNVS/dnasdj00/html/asp0071.htm
put that address in the VS.NET help locator bar That'l do donkey, that'l do

Hey Zar,

I'd like to check out that article myself, but not sure where you meant for it to be put (the help locator bar?).

Did you mean in the Look For: field on the index tab, because that just points me to mscorcfg.msc

Thanks
:)

When you open any help file in VS there is a URL box at the top and centered (by default, you may have customized your screen) within the VS environment. Most likely a similiar address will already be in the box. Just copy paste the above URL.

Another note just paste it into your regular browser window that also works. It is just a link to a file on your hard drive. I am assuming that you will have needed to install the help system from VS.NET. That'l do donkey, that'l do

OK, as dumb as this will sound, how can I tell if I have the help system installed?! I mean, I'm pretty sure that I do have it (I can search teh help topics, the index loads up with all the options to pick from, etc.). I've used help quite a bit in vs.net

But for some reason (and I found the URL box, thanks :) )
the link you have goes to a server not found page, from within vs.net OR from my browser.

Um, maybe save me the pain right now though:
Did the article actually explain HOW to spell check (cause if yes, then I'll still want to find it)

If it didn't, and basically said no, can't be done, too complicated, blah blah blah, then I'll just keep my eye out for another component or code sample.

Thanks Zar
:)

I have been doing a lot of research on the different components that are out there and there are not any specifically to ASP .NET However ComponentOne.com has one for VB .NET and plans to release their ASP .NET spellchecker in Q3 of this year! Other products out there can be integrated with a little jscript or vbscript code. Here are some of the ones I have found:

1. Componentone VStudio.NET SpellChecker ---Plans to release ASP .NET spellchecker next quarter
2. Chado SpellEditor
3. XDE SpellChecker
4. SpellEx
5. JSpell

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you Jack. Yes it did explain how to do spell checking. It uses the Microsoft Word engine to do so.
If your using the help all the time then it is definetly installed. Your not running from the CD are you?
You can do a search on spell checking if you want or I can email you a copy of it. Let me know.
I found that it was a informative article not only showing you how to spell check but also explaining what was happening.
Anyway Cheerio

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, its funky: even if I search for spell check, I can't find anything. What filter were you using for your search?

If you wouldn't mind emailing the article to me, I'd really appreciate it! Just send it to

jfrost10@shaw.ca

Thanks again!
:)

Jack

no filter as far as I can remember. Anyway the article is now headed through cyber space in your general direction.
