We created a Performance Appraisal template in Word that our managers will access from the company intranet. The managers will record their responses on the template. The template has been write protected to prevent changes to the template, but this prevents spell check of the manager responses. Is there anything we can do to enable this funtion?

Thanks for your help.

Are you are making changes to the template itself, or using it to make a new file based on it? The template can be write protected, but a new file based on it should not be.

When I use Text Form Fields in Word and want an area that is free text or to be spellchecked, I insert a continuous section break. After that section, I insert another continuous section break. Using Tools + Protect Document, you can select which sections you want protected or not. The unprotected section can be spellchecked and formatted.

For example,
Give a description of the employees work habits. (Insert continuous section break)

(insert another section break)

Thanks so much - I had no idea about the continuous break thing. I'll try that!
