The spell check for word 2007 does not work. i am not exactly the best typist or speller i have checked all of the places i know to look but cannot get my spell check to operate correctly. i have puposely misspelled words to test it and it comes back complete. is there a fix or am i missing something?

Review tab - Proofing section - Select language. There will be two boxes at the bottom of the dialog box. Make sure there is [red]not[/Red] a check mark in the Do Not Check Spelling or Grammar box. The one that should be checked is Detect Language Automatically.

Another Victim of the recession

THank you for your speedy reply! I have selected the language and checked / unchecked the appropriate boxes to no avail. The Grammar portion seems to work just not the spelling.

That is a matter of opinion [smile] I always switch it off and, if you have trouble with spell checking, especially if you have that option turned on, do make sure Word thinks the language is the same as you think it is.

Enjoy,
Tony

I have tried both settings and verified english is the language. Still spell check doesnt pick up misspelled words.

If Word thinks the document has been checked it may not pick up errors. Go to Office Button > Word Options > Proofing tab, and click on Recheck Document.

As well as checking the Language Dialog, you could also check whether any of the Styles you are using have "Do not check spelling or grammar" set.

Enjoy,
Tony
