Spell check checks ENTIRE email

I am looking at Netscape 7.1 and when I try to reply to an email, spell check runs (which I want and need it to), but it checks my email, and the email that I am replying to, and the original email that I sent. Is there any way to get it to ONLY spell check the new part of the email?
