I have two computers connected via Cat-5 thru a D-Link 524 (firmware 3.23) to a Speedstream 5100 DSL modem.
It used to work with:
A) D-Link set up: "PPPoE(For most DSL users)"
AND
B) Speedstream: "PPP is on the computer. This mode is normally used if you need to run a PPPoE client on your PC."
This stopped working last week.
Now the only way I can get both computers to access the internet is if it's set up in opposite fashion...
A) D-Link: "Dynamic IP Address (For most Cable modem users)"
AND
B) Speedstream: "PPP is on the modem. This is the normal mode for this modem when connected to a single computer."
What is happening here? Something seems wrong even though it technically works.
Thanks!
