I have received numerous compaints regarding mailboxes which receive faxes from outside callers, then in turn deliver them to on-site fax machines. The faxes usually time out or are chopped and missing most of the pages originally sent.

After sending a fax from my PC via fax/modem, I sent a fax to the Octel fax mailbox; then the exact same fax directly to a fax machine.

The fax to the Octel fax mailbox took 3 1/2 minutes for a single page; the fax directly to the fax machine took about 30 seconds.

Is there any way to increase the fax Rx/Tx speeds on the Octel so the connecting devices don't always time out?

S8700 with an Octel 250, configured with line type 7405ND.

I have seen this problem with systems that have LAN cards in them that are going bad or that are in the wrong slot. Do you have a LAN card and if so what slot is it in ?

I do have a LAN card... which is not being used. It is in the very last slot going left-to-right. Is there anything I can do in software to disable/fix, or would removing the card and testing from there be my next step?

If you are not using it you can busy it out in menu 13-11 and pull it. you will get an error that the lan is dead but it will be fine to test with. other than that there no way to change any of the faxing tx/rx in the system that i know of

I was using windows xp fax printing so i'm not sure what it was prior to disabling the LAN card on the octel. using procomm fax i connected to my fax mailbox at 9600 and my fax machine at 14.4. it seems to have made a difference because it didn't take 3 minutes to complete the transaction.

i will do a few more tests from the office tomorrow. thanks for the help Ken.
