Hi all,

I have a 64k leased line and would like to know if it is possible to get more "juice" out of it. I could upgrade, however leased lines are very expensive here (RSA). The cost for a local 128k leased line is $800 per month!.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,

Bernard

Your 64K leased line will run at ..... 64K!! You can't make it any faster than that without upgrading the bandwidth.

Chris.

Hi there iproute,

I am quite aware of that :). What I mean is, can i load some software to do some compression and in that way get more data over.

Thanks.

Bernard

Bernard,
if you have Cisco Routers on either side of your 64K Line you could run compression depending on what type of Protocol you are running across the Link. If it's only a point to point link you could you "link compression". Let me know anyway.

Hi paul,

It is a point to point connection. I have LG routers, however they do not do compression.
How do you do the "link compression"?
Thanks

Bernard

If you are using RIP on your WAN route it will slow things down on a 64k line (even a T1).You could try setting up some static routes in the two routers to get away from the constant RIP updates (overhead)and make the most out of your leased line. Just a thought
