Speed up 'window.open'

I'm using 'window.open' in an application but have found quite a lag in time before firing the 'onclick' event and the new window being produced.

Does anybody know of a method to speed up the operation?

This is curious - do you mean the page takes time to load, or the window takes time to appear? Slow server? tripod perhaps?
