Hi.
I just installed a new ASUS motherboard with a 900MHz AMD processor.
What would be the best settings for CPU Frequency and DRAM Frequency? (The MB defaults to 100Mhz for both, but allows a vast array of user defined settings.
You will have to look to see if your RAM is PC100 or PC133 before you can make judgement on this.
If it is the latter, then you can adjust the frequency to 133 and you will get a slight perfomance boost (hardly noticeable). As for the processor, leave this at 100mhz. The motherboard switches should be set to a x9 multiplier, however, with this athlon you can overclock it to x10 to make it a 1ghz but with a 900 mhz CPU, do you really want to.
I've got the same set up even though I have if you have a A7V that is. My ram is one 128 133 CAS2 and a 128 133 CAS3. I set my ram at 100Mhz cas 2. My computer wan't Mr stable so I have to do this. The settings you choose will be changed by the motherboard so if you put 133 then it may be automatically by the motherboard to cas3 depending on your ram. (Some automatic detection from somthing (SPD), that most ram has on it). You should check the cas settings by going into the first inner menu where you set the cpu speed. If you go to tomshardware.com it tells you the speed increase of changing the ram speed and or the latency (cas settings). Or open up your computer and check the dimms to see if they are labelled but it doesn't mean your sys will be stable nessarily if you run it at the speed on the dimm modules.
One thing I don't get Eradic is why my processor is running at 908 according to windows and Dr Hardware.
