Speed Screen Latency

Hi... I am having a problem using speed screen latency with MS Word 97. Have turned on local text echo to enhance the typing speed, which works very well. but now when inserting a table into a document and using the mouse to adjust the number of columns and rows it gets to over 20 rows and causes an error

WFICA32 caused an invalid page fault in module MSVCRT.DLL

it then closes word and all other apps the user is running on that server. I am running the 6.30 windows client. servers are w2k SP3, MF XP with FR2.

Have tried using the input field configuration to try and turn off speed screen for the insert table fields but doesn't work.

Anyone else seen this.

Have you tried adjusting the client screen resolution and colours....????

Hi Highland..... all our apps are running in seamless mode and I have just tried changing the screen res to 640, 800 and 1024 and colours to 16, 256, and high.

Still getting same problem.

OK, here's a few more things to try.....

Check the permissions on the MSVCRT.DLL file and make sure its set to Everyone/Full Control....

Try turning off background spellchecking.....

Have you tried a different version of the client...???

Are all your PCs getting the same problem....???

Hi Highland... Ok treied change permissions on the dll but no change. Problem comes up even if logged inas an administrator.

backround spell checking is already off
not sure about going to an older client, but will look into it.
Yes all pc's will do the same thing.

Is the problem mainly caused when you try to scroll outwith the visible area of the screen.....????

Hi...no its just when inserting a table and using the little up arrow to set the number of rows and columns

Sorry, for some reason I thought it was a problem scrolling with graphics images on screen....??? I dont know why....!!!

Anyway, I checked a few things this morning, it seems most issues relating to the MSVCRT.DLL are caused when the MS version of this DLL is overwritten when new software has been loaded...??? The recommended resolution is to re-install the MSVCRT file from the service pack, it would seem that its best to expand only this file from the Service Pack CD and try copying back to the system32 folder on its own......

We're having this same problem on Terminal Services connection via Citrix. It happens only on our applications that run Access. Other applications seem to run fine
