I have a PC with a Pent4 2GHz and 512 RAM WinXP on a 56K
My collegue has a MAC OS10.3.3 with 1.25 GHz & 768 RAM on a cable connection.
My question is why does the Flash movie on our site: play twice as fast on my computer as it does on hers.
Other Flash sites that we have looked at run at the same speed on our computers.
Is there a reason for this?
Thanks,

Hi

First of all a pc for grachics I think would always be slower than a mac, plus I think you should load you images and or video clips dynamically try to load them from an externat source instead of nesting them in your.fla, it might run a little faster.

Macs are generally slower than equivalently priced PCs, even the dual processor G5 -
In the case of Flash there's a player bug which means that movies with frame rates set at less than 31 fps will play at a fixed 12 fps on Macs - above 31 they should play at the correct rate which might explain why some movies work well for you but yours doesn't. Try adjusting your frame rate and see if it clears up the problem.

Interesting. I did a few tests myself a while back and found 35fps runs pretty consistently on Mac and PC so I now use it as my document default rate.

As long as you're above 31fps the Mac problem seems fixed, I've never actually used 31 itself as a frame rate because it's such a weird number ;-)

Thanks for your input guys.
Thanks for the actionscripthero.com link oldnewbie, I hadn't seen that site before.
I'm going to set my movie at 35 and test it again on the Mac and see what happens.
