speed issue with WRT54GX v2 router

Hello, i have a linksys WRT54GX w/SRX router and i also had the PCI adapter with SRX, my internet connection was lightning fast when i was wireless. But when i took back my PCI adapter and just plugged an etherenet cable into my computer from the router,my connection speed had slowed down drastically.

I think it might have something to do with IE6 not sure. Can anyone suggest anything, maybe a way to check a few things.
