I feel stupid on this one, maybe its a brain fart... where can I set the speed and duplex on an IP500?

Is there anywhere in SSA or monitor I can see what is set vs what it really is?

Is there anything I can do IPO-side to see what it has set vs what it really is at to try and eliminate the possibility of a duplex mismatch?

You can't set it, it is 100MB duplex but it is set to auto and so should your switch port be as well otherwise you may have problems.

Thanks for that quick reply. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that IPO auto-negs to 100 Full when it can, and otherwise will not give you anything anywhere in SSA or Monitor or otherwise to indicate anything like a duplex mismatch... Am I right on that?

Thinking out loud, under "Alarms", I'd like to see "half duplex!" - I consider it rather alarming :)

So... now that I'm at the mercy of the network guys, anyone seen anything where it has trouble negotiating on certain Gb interfaces or anecdotal evidence of little problems with certain switch vendors? Mine is on an Avaya 4500 ERS I don't manage, but I suppose someone could have put 100/full on the port and autoneg'd to 100 half perhaps.

you are correct

no alarms for low speed as far as I remember

Not seen the problem as of yet but seeing it is a Nortel Avaya ERS these beasts are really customizable and maybe the port is bent a bit.

Thanks again. Have a star. Not because its extraordinary that you know that, but because I don't feel dumb anymore for missing what I thought was a simple setting :)

Take care!

thanks for the star kyle555
seems I was just at the right time on the forum before going out for dinner.
