I have a situation where a prior company installed a Magix and told the client that they could use 3 digit speed dials to insert 10 digit account codes so that the Call Accounting Cost Recovery Software would see the 10 digits from the SMDR and programmed as such in the switch. It does not work, they were told to dial "9" press the Acct Code Button then press the feature button on there phone set and insert the three digit code but I was running the SDMR through the Hyper Terminal and nothing would come up at all. I could not see how this would work being you have to press two separate buttons on the phone set which goes from one command to the other not one within another. The customer claims that it worked before on his old partner system but I'm stumped on seeing how it could work on a Magix. Here another thing I notice all the acct codes start with a "0" so you can't hit feature plus the code without it going to the operator. Is there someway to make this happen without any work on the end of the Call Acounting Software people the customer is adamant about it being able to work in the switch.

Assuming thet you want a separate account code per extension, use the outside autodial feature(*21) and enter the account code as a speed dial per extension. They may like it even better as that is much less button pressing.

I'm sorry if I did not make myself as clear as I sholud have , The client is a Law firm and they bill clients for any phone correspondence to and on behalf of them. Every phone call billed to that client has a specific 10 digit code for each of their clients which goes out to their Call accounting software via SMDR which computes the actual amount of money they are owed by that client.

OK, that gets a little more complicated. I DON'T THINK the speed dial will work for you this way. Can you enter the 10digit account code, and get it out on the SMDR? That's pretty straightforward, but as for the speeddials, even using them you'd only be able to get 140 of them programmed. It would be simpler just to have them enter the entire code.

No it has not worked that way but the client is adamant about because the person who installed it programmed all those speed dials and the trainer told them that it would work so I'm trying to figure out a way to make it happen they have had this problem since it was installed 8 months ago and no one addressed it maybe for fear of giving back some money so now its in my lap and I'm trying to be a hero so to speak. The regular way is coming out of the SMDR (dialing the 10 digits), but they are losing out on alot of money because the error sheet that the software prints out, so I wanna come up with something if possible.

I t "would work" or id "DID" work? There is a lot of difference.... and you client is a law firm? You have your hands full.

Well its a Law firm so they will say she said " it will work" LOL So I'm trying to figure out how it can be done.

The feature reference says:

"You can program a System Speed Dial number or a Personal Speed Dial number to replace a long account number, but you cannot program it to contain both an account number and a telephone number. Single-line telephones cannot use Personal Speed Dial or System Speed Dial to dial account codes because the # required to use Speed Dial is also used to terminate Account Code Entry."[/color blue]

I made it work like this:

Programmed a SYSTEM SPEED DIAL with a NAME(Account Name) and a number followed by a pound sign.

Programmed an ACCOUNT CODE BUTTON on the set.

I got the screen up for DIRECTORY, SYSTEM and THEN Dialed a number.

To enter the account code, I touched the ACCOUNT CODE button and then the SOFT KEY for the ACCOUNT NAME.

You know it "TOOK" because the ACCOUNT CODE BUTTON went solid.

The only ohter thing is I set SMDR for ISDN, not BASIC.

(May not make a difference though.)
