Hi all- I have a customer that now has Spectrum pots type lines. There is a low static type sound on all of the lines and I had a vendor meet with a Spectrum tech. He was able to hear the noise. He was unable to figure out what is causing the issue. It is very low but the customer hears it on the IPOffice and they stated that the issue appeared when they went from ATT to Spectrum. Anyone hear of an issue like this? All the sites that I work on with Spectrum lines have never had any issues and lines are crystal clear.
Thanks in advance- Eileen

Have you tried to test the pots lines with a butt set before the ip office and see if the same noise occurs?

Do you Check the Earth connection?

Hi William- I did. I tested with my butt set right out of the RJ11 handoff from the Spectrum modems- there are 2. I also tested with a single line phone connected to the RJ11 handoff. Same noise. It seems a bit more amplified on the phone system. The user had over 200 vm messages in their GM and I deleted most of them and did hear the noise on the most current ones. The IPOffice and UPS are both grounded to an electrical conduit which I know is a no no. Not installed by me. Spectrum installed their gear on top of the shelf mounted UPS and sat the existing Cradlepoint on top of their equipment. The Cradlepoint has been swapped out for a different model and is now mounted about 5 feet away on the wall.

If the noise is coming from Spectrum, then they must fix it. Whether they have to replace the EMTA or SBC type equipment providing the dial tone. They must provide you reliable noise free circuits. If it’s bad before the system then it will never be good on the system.
