I have an hplj4 remote print queue configured under Aix 4.3.2.
I currently use the lpr command to print to the queue.
Recently we have replaced the printers with Lexmarks with multiple paper drawers (Different form types). It appears that the hplj4 driver still works but how might I specify which drawer to use ? at print time ? Bob Schmid

Usually prinetrs print using some Page_Description_Language like PostScript or PCL. One or both of these are shared between HP, Lexmark and most printers in the world.
This does a great thinh as image of your document is set properly on paper on almost any printer.

The next is print job management, which is usually implemented in fancy web-servers on printer or in printing drivers

Lexmark printers are sold by IBM as IBM 1234 Printers, so they are supported under AIX just as good as HP - with resolution selection and Paper/Try selection in menus under #smitty spooler
