Hello all:

How do create a new database and have all its related files in a folder other than the default folders where Microsoft wants it to be generated? At C:\MAIN\DB for example

Thanks

Hi

Look at CREATE DATABASE in BOL. Just change the location in the create script.

You can also change the location in EM, when you click on "New Database". In the Database Properties window click on the Data tab and then click on the elipsis button to browse to a location.

Hope this helps

John

Hello John:

Thank you very much! I did it in EM

Appreciate your help

I found this useful (SQL200 only ) - you can change the default location settings. Select sql server properties, and on the Database settings tab set your own default directories for the data and log locations.
