Specifying a master

I'm importing a word document into InDesign document with 2 master pages, one for the first page of each chapter(master#1) and another master for the remaining pages(master#2).

My question here is two-fold:
1) Upon importing, is it possible to apply master#1 to areas where there is a page break in Word?
2) Once editing in InDesign, I want the master#1 to flow as I add graphics. Is it possible to anchor master pages - otherwise as the content changes, the layout is thrown off as the masters stay fixed and the 1st chapter pages advance.

The question's a little hard to understand so pardon me if I'm wrong.

First, it usually easier to apply masters after something is brought into ID, as it gives you more freedom.

#1- When you get the Place window you can check "show import options". When you select the Word doc, you'll be given "preserve page breaks" as an option. This is not necessarily good in many cases, because the formatting in the Word doc might not be anything like what you're going to do with the content.

#2 - If the text boxes on the various pages are linked, or a master text frame is set when creating the ID doc, the content should flow. If a master (1) is set for one page and the content is flowed into a second page, that content should change to the settings of any master (2) set for the subsequent page(s).
