I am interning at the Frist Center in Nashville (
We have a special database browser called MRAD that has a similar interface to IE5. However, MRAD was designed by a contractor, so we have (at least) one problem that I was hoping might be able to be answered here:

When going to some of the suggested websites on the MRAD database, clicking on a link will cause javascript to run and automatically open up a new, full-screen IE5 window, breaking out of our Flash-based MRAD browser. Is there any way we can contact our Flash contractors to fix this problem? They say nothing can be done..... %-(

maybe the browser is secured against page requests outside it's home domain?

or this may be a javascript problem and as such, it is fixable by any teenage punk with a flare for javascript. the error is in the html page code that hosts the flash page. if you have access to the files that make up the program you should be able to edit them and fix them problem.

however, if the problem happens to be in a "getURL" action where the target window is incorrectly defined, thats a different story. it's compiled into the flash movie. if you do not have the .fla file for your program you must get your contractor to fix the error. if the don't have it, well.. all i can say is that, as a budding flash designer, if i built something for a client, i would keep the source files and fix my stupid mistakes for free.

but that's just me.

any other ideas?

flash based browser? how dose this browser open html pages in a flash file? thats what i would have to know before even atempting to guess at what the problem could be. i personaly don't know of a way to open a full fleged html page IN flash. if you could explain how this was done maby i could help further.

rockofvictory,

could u put a link here to the site you were refering to. we may have the same problem with our site too. we have what we call a flash console which is actually based in ie5. there are some sites that do overrides us in a way that it occupies the window for our console.
