I just recieved a gateway 9100 solo laptop which is loaded with Windows XP Pro, and can not get the Left bottom keys to work, the keys are Pn, Ctrl, Flag and on the right side bottom it is the right arrow key. Have tried 3 key boards and one external key board. can you help me..wayne

You might have to check for XP keyboard drivers for your laptop with the manufacturer.

Is this a new laptop, or do you know the previous history of it's use?

Is it a new laptop straight from Gateway? If it is, I'd be tempted to bounce it straight back at them (or at least call them and ask if they've seen it before).

I guess i should have said it was a used laptop that originally had came with with windows 98 installed in it, I do not know how in stalled windows XP. Would i be better off to reinstall windows 98 back in it. Is there a way to check out the key board otherwise..

Solo 9100 PII 300/366 Laptop. Go to Gateway.com support section. Look for BIOS and other XP software updates for XP Pro for your model of laptop. My guess is you have a faulty keyboard. You can purchase these keyboard on Ebay. Your laptop uses the Intel 440BX chip set (Good chipset). XP Pro should not have a problem running on this laptop. Suggest also using an external keyboard for testing keyboard functions. Good Luck!
