Hi,
Im using an old Norstar MICS (rebranded here in australia to Commander NT132) with an old version of software (i think it is V3) and would like to program a key on a M7310 with an external autodial that both picks a specific line (line 1) (rather than the first available, line 3) and dials a # as the first number. I managed to program a key to pick line 1 and dial another number (that started with a *), but i cant remember how i did that, and i am sure that it wouldnt let me store # as the first digit. Basically, i want to store some teleco based feature codes for the receptionist to use that must act on line 1, not line 3. The system has one PSTN trunk card. any help, greatly appreciated!

Try using the external autodial code, but press the Line 1 key first, and then enter the dialled digits. This has worked on Norstar systems when customer wants a single key to activate CFW on a specific trunk to an after-hours answering service. So the entry would be F*1,press Line 1, F78 for a pause (may not be needed), and then enter the destination number. You would have to have an appearance on the phone of the line you want to access. If not, assign it temporarily and then remove it after programming the button.

Worked a treat... thanks very much!
I must have been on a different planet when trying it before. Back on earth with my S*&^ back together and worked fine.
Tried putting it on another extension without line appearances by your suggestion of assigning the line to appr&ring, programming, then taking it back off, and when trying to use the button it now says "select line". No real hassle though, got me out of trouble for x221 which is what i was worried about! Thanks again.
