It seems to be a bug-zapper effect going from speaker to speaker onm my computer. Is there some way of stopping this? Have worked on computers since 1987 and have not run across this before. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Could be:

Bad speakers
Wrong sound driver (common cause)
Bad sound card

Have you tried a different set of speakers or a headset to eliminate the hardware?

Kimber There is no such thing as a dumb question. Only a dumb mistake because you didn't ask...

Are the speakers plugged into the correct jack on the sound
card? Is the modem patched to the sound? Is the microphone
to close to the speakers? If your speakers are powered with
110 try plugging into different outlet. There may be another
appliance on the same circut that is causing interferance. Or the thermal protector in the surge protector (if you plug through one) might be gone and causing interference.Any cell phones close by? It sounds as if something is loose and a speaker maybe just shorting out.
