Just installed a rel.7 in a customer's house. He tries to intercom one of the other phones on the system. The recipient of the intercom call is has to be extremely close to the phone to be heard while using speakerphone. The originating phone can be heard just fine but you just can't hear the recipient.

Same system, ext 10 (18D) has a answering machine plugged into the aux port. I will not answer a call. I checked with my butt-set and it would only receive a partial ring. If I unplug the 18D from the jack and plug the answering machine in by itself, it receives a full ring and after 3 rings the answering machine answers.

abrv ring is why, call from another extension and see if your ans machine picks up

BTW, these are two different problems.

I'll check on abbr. dial.

as for defective phone , l've checked that already .

For the answering machine problem you can try looping the blue pair to a 2nd jack and plug the answering machinr into it. it will serve the same purpose at the AUX jack but bypass the phone. You could also use a splitter in the jack and plug the phone into one and plug the answering machine (with a 1 pair cord) into the other.

that would not work. as soon as the 18d is hooked up to that jack in any way it causes the the ringing problem.

Hi gok,
The AUX jack is wired that way. Can you try this on a different phone? Abbr ring only comes into effect when you are on a call already, already using the tip ring, so this has nothing to do with anything.
The mic on the P18D is near the lower right front. This works best moved back away from the edge of a desk or table. Also, the unit uses a VOX to switch between xmit and rcv. Like a walkie talkie. Also, make sure there is nothing in front of it.

Change distinctive ring, #308 to not active. The system set will ring normally but the single line device will get one ring burst for any calls.

I changed abbr. ringing and distinctive ring and it had no effect. I removed it from ext 10 and wired it to ext 11 by itself and its still not getting a full ring burst. The other single line devices are working fine, but this just refuses to work. Is there a set limit to the number of single line devices that the ring generator will support.

As for the microphone/intercoming issue it still does not work well. the user has to be right on the phone for the microphone to pick up. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the VOX of the microphone?

Hi gok,
The Partner does not supply the full 90 V ring signal. It's more like 60 VAC or so. This might be your problem. I know the ring generator on a Magix will happily ring stuff a Partner won't.
